We visit the Big Cheese

One day we finaly got an appointment with our principal. Another kid in my class and I went during Art class, we were for about an hour but it didn`t seem like we got anywhere. We asked him why we could play sports in Gym class and not out at recess but it seemed like he keept changing the subject. Befor I was just mad but now Iwas mad and annoyed.

The Petition

We started a petition and got over fifty signatures of fifth graders. Our Social Studies teacher took our next atempt away but this time to help us she took this one to the principal but we still didn`t get anywhere. Of coarse we didn`t stop we just kept on going.

The Playground...

We printed out the fliers and the next day we started handing them out to the students. The teacher on duty took all the fliers away from us and the other kids. So much for the First Amendment.

We made up a flier and handed it out:

FIGHT FOR YOUR RIGHTS TO PLAY SPORTS!
This is America!
We have the right to play sports if we want to and no one should be able to tell us that we can't. We're in fifth grade which means that this is our last year with actual recess. We'll be in middle school next year and won't get recess. With this being our last year to enjoy it we should be able to play tag, basketball, soccer and other games we like.
Help bring back our sports and make our last year of recess decent!

Fight Back!

Our principal has recently banned the playing of tag, basketball, and soccer during recess at Truman Elementry School and we`re mad. My class has done almost everything we can think of including passing out flyers, giving out stickers, talking to the principal, making t-shirts, and even painting our binders, but we know that he`s not giving in any time soon. We`re extremly mad but we`re not giving in either. We`ll keep fighting untill we get our way even if it takes to the last day of school!
